This is the 14th year of Dad's Take Your Child to School (DTYCTSD). is the national response to the Black Start Project Million Father March which started in Chicago, IL. in 1996. New York State coined the name Dad Take Your Child To School Day, in 2006. This Initiative now takes place at 1000's of schools, Head Start Programs Early Learn and Afterschool programs and education settings across the United State and the Virgin Islands with Fatherhood programs.

Moms are extremely important in the lives of their children! This event is not being planned to take away from the important impact that moms have in the lives of their children every day. In fact, this event recognizes that moms are often more involved in their children's educational lives than dads are. So, Dads Take Your Child to School is just one day to shine the spotlight on dads and encourage men to get involved in their children's education.
